Mayer Hawthorne — No Strings

Brand new video released earlier today from one of my new favorite artists, Mayer Hawthorne. The track is called ” No Strings” and is off his latest album, How Do You Do. This dude makes some pretty soulful music mixed with some sound from the 60s and 70s, and if it’s true that he plays all the instruments himself — he’s certainly one bad mofo.

Be Grateful

I randomly had a cool conversation with a deaf guy today. He walked up to me near a bus stop pointing to his wrist to signal, “You got the time?” I was beginning to tell him the time, but then he pointed to his ears and shook his head to signal that he couldn’t hear me. I turned my arm around so that he could see what time it was, then he walked over to the bus schedule to check the bus times. I quickly thought to myself, “You never know what someone is going through by just looking at them.”

Samsung vs. Apple

Apple had rights to sue Samsung. They made their Touchwiz skin too iPHONEY, and thus I hate skins. There’s a nicer update to the TouchWiz skin on the Galaxy S3s, though. They infringed in part, but some of those verdicts are bullshit. The major issue here goes beyond Apple — it’s the Patent system. And Apple has gotten away from getting patents on things they DIDN’T create first or ones that are way too broad. Then they last for like 20 years when technology changes like every single day.

UCLA researchers create highly transparent solar cells for windows that generate electricity

Pretty cool.

UCLA researchers have developed a new transparent solar cell that is an advance toward giving windows in homes and other buildings the ability to generate electricity while still allowing people to see outside. Their study appears in the journal ACS Nano.

The UCLA team describes a new kind of polymer solar cell (PSC) that produces energy by absorbing mainly infrared light, not visible light, making the cells nearly 70% transparent to the human eye. They made the device from a photoactive plastic that converts infrared light into an electrical current.

To Friend or Not to Friend?

This dating game is getting a bit out of control. We’ve heard all of the stories about guys using females, taking advantage of them and hurting them. Good guys get generalized and get labeled bad and we know the rest (aintshit). Females don’t take the time to look at themselves and see that they are the problem sometimes as well. Some never learn, repeatedly attempting to date the same type of guys.

There are plenty of times where a female ends up hurting the guy she was dealing with. These are situations where a very good guy gets taken on an emotional roller coaster and then completely thrown aside after she’s had her fun.
